Coffee is one of those drinks: some people drink it, and some simply don’t.
And even among coffee drinkers, there is still a type of coffee that isn’t familiar to everyone:
“Specialty coffee.”
Simply being told that “specialty coffee tastes better” doesn’t necessarily explain what makes it different.
It’s expensive.
Is it sour?
It seems a little too serious...
Those impressions can come first, making specialty coffee feel complicated or like something meant for someone else.
But specialty coffee was never meant to be only for a small group of people.
It is coffee with the potential to be enjoyed by anyone.
So why can that difference be so difficult to communicate?
Perhaps we have spent too much time trying to explain coffee through knowledge and information.
Variety, altitude, processing method, roast level.
Of course, these are all important parts of understanding coffee.
But what most people really want to know may be much simpler:
What does it actually feel like to drink it?
Through a single cup, you might discover:
“I didn’t know coffee could be this sweet.”
“I didn’t know it could taste this clean.”
“I didn’t know something this pleasant could linger after the last sip.”
There is much more to coffee than simply light roast or dark roast.
Clarity.
Sweetness.
And a finish that stays in your memory.

Everyone likes their coffee differently.
There may never be one answer that works for everyone.
